The Director of Development (DD) is responsible for working with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for developing and nurturing relationships with investors, and prospective investors throughout Michiana. The DD will provide leadership on all fundraising initiatives, including the development and execution of strategic initiatives, meeting targeted fundraising goals, and active leadership for all fundraising efforts. These efforts include special events, major gifts, planned giving, sponsorships, donor cultivation, and grant writing. It will be the responsibility of the DD to identify, organize, and manage the fundraising activities of the affiliate with a focus on new opportunities to obtain ongoing and increased support from corporations, public and private organizations, faith communities, and individuals. The DD will report to the Director of Strategic Initiatives on metrics and core work performance and outcomes.

This DD leads and exemplifies the core values of the organization; Excellence, Integrity and Honesty, Accountability, Empathic, and Innovative without exception.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree preferred with an emphasis or concentration in sales, fundraising, marketing, public relations or related field.

Two – five years professional development and fund-raising experience or sales.

Experience and contacts in St. Joseph, LaPorte, Elkhart, Kosciusko, and Marshall Counties are a plus.

Ability to work with minimal supervision – self-motivated & confident.

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work well with people from all backgrounds with varying degrees of experience.

Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives with an ability to create opportunities for donors to give.

· Has proven track record of successful relationship management and fundraising or sales experience.

· Driven to make an impact for children and embrace a position with an organization that is determined to grow to the next level.

· Entrepreneurial-minded and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic but close-knit environment.

· Ability to establish strong relationships with investors, executives, and industry counterparts with a natural ability to connect the dots between organizational needs and the goals of various stakeholders.

· Strong written and verbal communicator and collaborator with whom people want to work.

· Demonstrated ability to drive results, prioritize activities, and effectively manage and integrate various internal and external stakeholders.

· A self-starter with a 'make stuff happen' mentality.

· Confident public speaking; able to express ideas verbally and in writing.

· Alignment and passion for our mission to transform the lives of families and children.

· Ability to work some evenings for events and necessary travel.
