Rock Island, United States Dover Precision Components Full time
Job Description

Dover Precision Components is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for our Inpro/Seal business. We are a world leader in the design and manufacture of permanent bearing protection and complete shaft sealing solutions for a variety of rotating equipment across multiple industries.

We offer competitive pay and benefits, and the ability to be a key contributor at our ISO certified manufacturing facility located in Rock Island, Illinois.  This is a primarily CNC machine environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

In this role, you will direct a wide variety of manufacturing engineering activities to develop and improve standards for industrial processes, materials, and products to ensure all customer requirements are met in a cost- efficient manner. Including:

  • Project Management - Design, lead, and implement process improvement projects in a team setting.
  • Research new machinery or technology to advance improvements with production.
  • Tooling research, quoting, planning location in turret and tool block holders for new machinery.
  • Confer with other manufacturing engineers to share knowledge and corrective actions to enhance/improve overall company quality and profitability.
  • Operate computer aided design equipment to design and develop tooling and fixtures (SolidWorks).
  • Advise production supervisors of engineering or manufacturing concerns.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering Manager to assure compliance with company standards.
  • Implement quality standard setup processes, eliminate need for special tooling, utilize existing machine technology where feasible, and conduct pre-launch review of all new jobs.
  • Eliminate safety hazards through sound manufacturing engineering practices.
  • Support R&D by offering design changes, including tooling research, and process development. Program product lines to include the use of live tooling, as needed, using CAD software.
  • Make core changes to the speeds, feeds and tool paths of established programming to improve productivity. Review tool path data to identify optimization opportunities and make changes.
  • Introduce live tooling to cells to enhance lead-time and reduce wait time in the plant.
  • Reprogram/Level load work to operate on an advanced 5 axis machine, decreasing Lead-Time and improving on time delivery – could require up to 2-5 new programs to be written.
  • Reprogram machines to be ran on a new more efficient Doosan CNC.
  • Recognize the needs of moving manual operations to more efficient VMC or CNC operations.
  • Update programming to improve tooling or research tooling to improve programs.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent work experience (5+ years’) in manufacturing engineering roles.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, and process improvement recommendations and implementations.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to proactively manage cross-functional relationships.
  • Demonstrated strong sense of urgency and ability to work in a changing and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong technical skills such as CNC machining and CAD/CAM technologies and tools.
