Sales Application Engineer -Defense BUSINESS: CIRCOR Pumps NA LOCATION: Monroe, North Carolina POSITION SUMMAY As a Sales Application Engineer Defense, you will be the face of our company, who will turn customer requirements into solutions. The role requires you to be proficient in creating proposals by extracting and analyzing data from our ERP and product selection tools. You will be working with multiple internal and external stakeholders to create a comprehensive proposal to be presented to the customer. As the expert, you will be required to have technical and commercial dialogue with customers to secure the award of order. Principal Activities Provide timely responses to customer enquiries for products and services. Analyze customer RFQ/RFPs to create technically compliant proposals. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather relevant information to prepare technical and commercial proposals. Prepare TINA (Truth in Negotiations) compliant proposals and support TINA audits. Effectively communicate value propositions and maximize profit for products and services. Maintain customer relationships through frequent communication, and occasional visits. Collaborate with Operations team to set priorities and effectively communicate order status to customers. Provide leadership and support to aftersales team to ensure on time execution of aftersales orders. Collaborate with Engineering to troubleshoot pump performance issues. Collaborate with Legal team to thoroughly review contract Terms & Conditions and effectively manage and communicate risks. Prepare effective executive summaries to secure timely internal approvals of customer proposals. Responsible for creating and adhering to short- and long-term Sales forecasts. Drive Continuous Improvement activities to improve efficiencies in order management and other relevant areas. Support post shipment activities and provide required technical assistance to ensure timely collection of cash. Coordinate with plant and host customer visits as required Occasionally conduct customer visits and attend industry conferences to gain and communicate business insights to leadership team JOB REQUIREMENTS Four-year college degree in an applicable field (Engineering, Operations, etc) OR equivalent combination of education and work experience (5+ years). 5-7 years of relevant sales experience as an Application Engineer Must be US Citizen (no dual citizenship) Must have security clearance or be willing to obtain clearance within 90 days of being hired. Knowledge Skills & Abilities Demonstrated business and financial expertise Familiarity with CAS/TINA requirements Proven experience in effectively managing customer relationships Demonstrated experience handling CUI (Confidential Unclassified Information) Excellent negotiating skills Strong planning/organizational skills Strong problem solving/analytical skills Demonstrated ability to work independently Strong oral and written communication/interpersonal skills Strong contract management experience, with direct experience negotiating Terms & Conditions Strong Project Management skill preferred Proficiency in reviewing engineering documents Hands on experience in Excel, MS Office Suite Strong ERP knowledge (preferably IFS) Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally Ability to travel 20% (within the United States) 100% onsite role (not remote or hybrid) CIRCOR is an EEO Employer of Females / Minorities / Veterans / Individuals with Disabilities
