Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Regional Director, Risk Management

Position Status: Full-time, Day Shift

Position Location: Primary location, Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston, VA. Travel will be required to various locations in central and northern VA.

Standard Working Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM (ET).

Position Summary:

The Regional Risk Director will be responsible for supervision, training, and development of assigned Risk Managers, Risk Analysts, Team Coordinators, Staff Assistants and/or any other Risk Management Department employees designated by the Director of Risk Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of risk identification and mitigation processes to reduce all types of property and casualty risk exposures throughout their assigned division.
  • Ensure the execution of processes for reporting, managing risks, and monitoring compliance with insurance procedures in both their facility/division and that of their direct reports.
  • Coordinate with division leaders and collaborate with clinical teams to develop strategies to prevent medical error and reduce loss.
  • Engages team members to evaluate incidents and conduct investigation provide for appropriate response to claims.
  • Assist the Director of Risk Management in strategic planning, goal setting and budgeting for the department in support of the goals and strategies of the organization.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Health related field - Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years Risk Management experience.
  • Minimum 2 years leadership experience in healthcare, nursing, regulatory/compliance, business, risk management, legal, and/or insurance
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification, Certified Safety Professional (CSP),or Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) required within 3 years of hire.

Job Summary

Masters degree in Business or Health related field preferred. 2 years which can include healthcare, nursing, regulatory/compliance, business, risk management, legal, and/or insurance. Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification, Certified Safety Professional (CSP),or Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) required within 3 years of hire.

Qualifications:

BLD - Bachelor's Level Degree (Required) Minimum 7 years Risk Management experience in a Healthcare setting with progressive responsibility., Minimum of 7 years Risk Management experience in a healthcare setting.
