Responsibilities:

Noblis MSD, a Noblis subsidiary and leading provider of science, technology and engineering services to the Department of Defense, announced that it has been awarded an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract to provide System Technical Support (STS) services to Product Manager Army Watercraft Systems. Currently we are looking to staff the contract with several Marine Engineers.

The Marine Engineers will be working on a contract supporting the US Army. This position will be remote and report to the Hampton, VA office of Noblis. Duties of the positions will include:

  • Inspect marine equipment and machinery, and draw up work requests and job specifications
  • Conduct environmental, operational, or performance tests on marine machinery and equipment
  • Coordinate and lead critical engineering project milestones, such as System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), and Production Readiness Review (PRR), ensuring compliance with technical, performance, and regulatory standards at each stage
  • Design and oversee the testing, installation, and repair of marine equipment
  • Investigate and test machinery and equipment to ensure compliance with standards
  • Coordinate activities with regulatory bodies to ensure that repairs and alterations are done safely and at minimal cost
  • Prepare technical reports for use by engineers, and managers
  • Maintain contact with contractors to make sure that the work is being done correctly, on schedule, and within budget
  • Present layout and engineering designs to clients and team members for analysis and feedback
  • Supervise all aspects of the design process for structural, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Oversee the construction of marine vessels and equipment to ensure their quality and integrity
  • Perform quality control inspections and tests on all systems and equipment and install upgrades, as needed
  • Ensure adherence to safety precautions and project timelines.

Travel up to 20% of the time.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of relevant experience in naval architecture or marine engineering, with demonstrated involvement in structural, mechanical or electrical systems.

Proficiency in using industry-standard design and analysis software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks, ANSYS, or similar tools.

Familiarity with maritime regulatory requirements and classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV GL, Lloyd's Register).

The ability to be cleared at the DoD Secret Level

May have to travel OCONUS and will need a passport

Desired Qualifications:
  • Professional Certification:

    • Possession of relevant certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) license, Chartered Engineer (CEng), or certifications from recognized maritime organizations.
  • Advanced Technical Skills:

    • Experience with advanced simulation and modeling software, such as CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools or FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software.
    • Knowledge of modern shipbuilding techniques, materials, and technologies.
  • Project Management Experience:

    • Demonstrated experience in managing or leading smaller projects or teams, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis total compensation package for employees.

Posted Salary Range:
USD $90,300.00 - USD $141,075.00 /Yr.
