The Senior Accountant role will develop your skills and leadership through analysis of complex accounting topics, critical thinking, innovative use of technology, and guidance of other team members. The primary focus of this position is the preparation of GAAP financial statements for multiple partnership entities, including full scope financial statement audits, as well as supporting the monthly and quarterly internal financial reporting and external SEC filings. This role requires an energetic individual who proactively identifies and implements process and technology improvements, and has a passion for accounting, and learning about the wireless business and wireless technology.
Principal Accountabilities
Resolves a wide range of accounting issues in innovative ways
Conducts special studies and develops or recommends accounting methods or procedures
Analyzes financial reports and records, making both accounting and operational improvement recommendations
Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications
Provides business partners and management with actual-to-budget variance analysis including providing insight to identify causes and resolution of variances
Manages workload effectively and efficiently by prioritizing responsibilities
Reviews, researches and recommends improvements to analysis, reporting, and systems
Responds to financial inquiries of operational management providing requested information for management of the business
Coordinates accounting matters with other departments and locations
Provides functional advice or training to less-experienced associates
Responsibility and Decision Making
Within acceptable accounting practices, Senior Accountants demonstrate sound judgment in developing solutions to apply to their areas. Assignments are often broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity to complete. Senior accountants must have the ability to work well independently and formulate recommendations for solutions.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
Minimum of three years of broad accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred, Big Four a plus
Broad knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures
Experience working with or within a public company with SEC reporting and SOX control requirements preferred
Skills
Strong PC literacy skills in a Windows environment with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access and Word)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate with all levels of management and associates
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements
Normal office working environment
Cyclical, sometimes unplanned overtime required
Light travel
