Key job responsibilities

Create and contribute to safety and sustainability initiatives across equipment types. Define, design and implement equipment procurement and specification, maintenance and technology-driven strategies and improvements for Amazon-owned transportation assets, such as trailers, intermodal containers, hostlers and tractors. Identify, assess, track, mitigate and report issues. Continual, tactical communication with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers (Retail, Finance, Software Support, Fulfillment Centers). Excellent communication, both verbal and written as you will be required to create a narrative outlining your weekly findings and the variances to goals, and present these findings in a review forum. Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs, while measuring and identifying activities performed. Lead initiatives to re-engineer business processes and identify and eliminate root causes of defects in order to drive efficiency in Amazon’s transportation operations. Must be able to systematically escalate problems or variance in the information and data to the relevant owners and teams and follow through on the resolutions to ensure they are delivered. Ability to pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, SQL (Structured Query Language) and/or other data management systems) and to perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed. Perform leadership functions for the team, including regular 1:1 coaching and development sessions and directing the team as needed during the work day. Develop performance metrics to assist with driving business results. Ability to scope out business and functional requirements for the Amazon tech teams who create and enhance the software systems and tools we use. Must be able to quickly understand the business impact of the trends and make decisions that make sense based on available data.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

High school or equivalent diploma. Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.). Experience managing large data sets and utilizing them to drive performance and process improvements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1+ years of program management, logistics, operations, supply chain, transportation, or equivalent experience. 1+ years of management experience. Bachelor's degree. Experience with SQL.
