Alternatives FCU is seeking a Member Relations Specialist to join our Member Services Team. Alternatives is a Community Development Financial Institute (CDFI) credit union serving Tompkins and surrounding counties, and is proud to find solutions for those left behind by the mainstream financial institutions. CDFIs share a common goal of expanding economic opportunity in low-income communities by providing access to fair financial products and services for local residents and businesses.

Member Relations Specialists provide customer service to members by assisting with transactions, explaining products and offering solutions to members via email, phone and chat. Applicants should be available to work full time, until 5 pm on weekdays and two Saturdays (at overtime rate) per month. The ideal candidate will be mission driven, have strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a team based environment. A HS Diploma or GED is required, experience working or volunteering with social justice organizations, community development groups, CDFIs, or other organizations supporting our target market, including low income and BIPOC communities is preferred. Previous customer service experience in a financial setting and notary license is helpful.
