Process Automation Controls Engineer

Location: Chattanooga, Tenessee

Type: Direct Hire

Pay Rate Negotiable depending on DIRECT-related experience

Work Authorization - Must be able to work in the U.S. with approved authorization status.

The role involves the ability to interpret technical documents, requirements, and design specifications with aggressive attention to detail. Experience working with OEM suppliers will be beneficial in this position.

Experience that Makes You Stand Out:

  • DCS configuration and programming experience with Emerson PROVOX and DeltaV control systems
  • PLCs, (Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE, Schneider, etc.) automation/building management control systems
  • Experience working in an industrial automation project delivery environment

Duties Include:

Ability to read, and understand the following types of industry-standard engineering drawings:

  • System/Network Architecture for Industrial Control Systems
  • P&IDs
  • Electrical Power Wiring Diagrams, including AC (120V) and DC power distribution
  • Grounding Wiring
  • Control Panel Layout and related Bill of Materials
  • Terminal Block Layout
  • Installation Details (control panel assembly)
  • Fabrication Details (sheet metal parts and components)
  • Loop Sheets (per ISA S5.2)
  • PLC/DCS I/O Termination
  • Cable Block Diagrams

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science plus 1-2 years experience OR
  • Associates degree (A.A.) from a Technical School plus 5 - 10 years experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to work in areas near high electrical currents

Work Authorization:

  • Must be able to work in the United States with current employment authorization documents.
