Job Summary

Our Financial Analyst ensures individuals and teams throughout Mud Bay have the data they need to make informed and effective business decisions. They are part of Mud Bay’s ecosystem of experts on labor productivity and supply chain management. The Financial Analyst works together with operations leaders on data metrics that drive Mud Bay toward optimal performance. This includes store labor optimization, supply chain management, innovation priorities, and other areas.

Responsibilities:

Analyzes data and outcomes to understand performance trends and spot opportunities for improvement. Designs and develops financial models and analyses that support operations leaders. Builds relationships across the company to facilitate decision-making and course corrections. Tracks and follows up on metric outcomes that identify opportunities for change and threats to optimal performance. Identifies the potential for process improvements to increase operational effectiveness, efficiency, and excellence. Develops an understanding of operations through working and observing in the field and effective communication with field leaders and staff. Works closely in and around software tools used in labor management, scheduling, and supply chain. Collaborates with and teaches operations leaders to help utilize tools in place and understand analyses. Stays informed of current and applicable benchmarks, trends, tools, and approaches inside and outside of the pet industry. Participates in ad-hoc scenario analyses that could drive actionable business changes. Collaborates on other various company projects and initiatives as needed. Works closely with all levels and teams throughout Mud Bay.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

BA/BS degree in finance, accounting, business administration, statistics or other analytical discipline. 4+ years of full-time relevant business experience. Retail preferred but not required. Curious, independent, inquisitive mind with a high level of attention to detail. Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Results-oriented self-starter who can turn high-level direction into self-directed plans. Proficient in Excel and BI tools such as Tableau. Able to work and communicate with senior leadership. Strong planning and organizational skills. High level of maturity, discretion, tact, and judgment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with various audiences throughout the organization.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work alongside field staff to better understand their work. Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time. Position Details & Travel Requirements:

Job Title: Retail Financial Analyst

Full Time Reports to CFO and a member of the Finance and Accounting Team Combines work in Mud Bay’s home office in Olympia WA with work at home, in our retail stores, our distribution center, and our service locations. Must be able to travel to any store within the Mud Bay footprint.
