Program:SBCS's (formerly South Bay Community Services) Mi Escuelita Therapeutic Preschool is the only one of its kind in Southern California, designed especially for children affected by domestic violence and abuse to help break the cycle of violence, help children heal and begin the right path for school. Nearly half of the children are in foster care.RESPONSIBILITIES:The Clinician, under the supervision of the Program and Department Directors, is responsible for providing trauma-informed therapeutic services to children and families receiving services within the agency. Clinician is responsible for working with the team in developing and meeting team goals and objectives. Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission, and style and provided within a team framework, including but not limited to: DUTIES:Conduct strengths-based, clinical assessments with children and their families.Develop treatment/service plan goals in collaboration with children and their families.Facilitate weekly therapeutic groups in each classroom utilizing the Incredible Years Curriculum and Kindness Curriculum for Mindfulness.Provide individual and/or family therapy to children and their families on a regular basis.Organize and facilitate monthly parent group meetings.Organize and facilitate monthly Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings.Inform parents of the Crime Victim Compensation ProgramProvide case management, crisis intervention, and safety planning services to clients as needed.Complete and maintain all Agency and Funder required case files and service documentation (both hard and electronic files) in accordance with Agency and Funder standards.Meet the minimum number of children served annually, as required by each funding stream.Communicate with other individuals, professionals, or agencies as necessary in order to achieve treatment goals, including attending County or collateral requested meetings.Assist the preschool Associates with duties including but not limited to, supervising/monitoring children during preschool activities, attending to children's appearance and cleanliness, and maintaining a clean preschool environment.Participate in clinical supervision, team, and other Program required meetings•Adhere to Agency client confidentiality, HIPAA, and mandated reporting policies.Participate in Agency required trainings, staff meetings, and activities.Provide leadership and initiative regarding the clinical and therapeutic needs of the program and clients.Highly organized, able to multi-task, and prioritize.Work closely with preschool teachers to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.Establish positive and supportive relationships with families, ensuring open communication and collaboration.Collaborate with teachers to develop and modify classroom routines and activities to meet the specific needs of children with special needs.Conduct observations and provide feedback to teachers regarding individual student progress and classroom dynamics.As other duties assigned. Requirements Master's degree in social work, psychology, or related with current BBS registration.Minimum of two years of experience in counseling children and families with a history of DV, child abuse, or other forms of trauma. Minimum of one year prior of experience working with children ages 3-5 years. Ability to work with clients who have significant emotional and behavioral difficulties including physical aggression. Experience working with preschool-aged children, preferably in a therapeutic or educational setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with families, teachers, and other professionals.Patience, compassion, and empathy in working with children with special needs and their families.Excellent organizational and time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities.Must be highly organized, flexible, and have the ability to multi-task due to everyday crises. Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.Conditions of EmploymentEmployment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.
