Title Cook Description **Position Summary:**

Prepares, cooks, and serves high volume of foods from menus prepared by the Dietitian and Food Service Director using standardized recipes and following established portion control. Follow HACCAP guidelines and Infection control Guidelines

**Tasks/Responsibilities:**

* Handles and prepares food in accordance with sanitation standards and regulations.

* Observes all rules of personal sanitation and safety when preparing and serving food.

* Responsible for preparation of food that is palatable, high quality, and appetizing in appearance, using standardized recipes.

* Responsible for meeting meal schedules of patient services, cafeteria, and assigned catering functions.

* Performs quality checks and reports any compromised product quality standard to Supervisor or Director.

* Performs routine temperature checks to ensure proper serving temperatures.

* Responsible for all food products in cooks area to include foods for Cafeteria, Patients and Caterings.

* Assists in sanitation and maintenance of work area, equipment and supplies. Reports supply shortages/low stock levels and equipment failure to Supervisor.

* May perform other related duties as required or assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements **Licensure/Registration:**

Local Food Handlers Permit

**Experience/Skills Required**

At least 6 months in restaurant or hospital kitchen preferred. Must be able to prepare a variety of foods and be familiar with batch cooking, food preparations methods, and staging. Must have good knowledge of various cuts of meats, seasonings and various cooking techniques. Must be able to make simple estimates relative to quantities of food required.

**Education:**

High School graduate or equivalent required.

**Special Qualifications:**

Good communication skills and computer skills are helpful. The ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.
