The People and Culture team is responsible for the Foundation's strategic efforts to design, implement and manage innovative human resources practices and initiatives that attract, develop, engage, support and retain an energized, high-performing, diverse staff in a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

The Talent Acquisition Associate manages the recruiting function for the Foundation, including leading the search process for exempt and non-exempt level searches. He/She is privy to confidential information, including employee personal information, and must maintain the confidence of such information at all times. The Talent Acquisition Associate understands all aspects of People and Culture operations and can lead and/or work effectively on a wide variety of projects.

About the Position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Foundations commitment to maintaining a suitable flow of well-qualified diverse candidates, attract a more-diverse group of candidates, in terms of race, ethnicity, disability, and veteran status, among others by continuously enhancing our job posting sites and working with our Diversity Outreach Partners
  • Manage the full life cycle recruitment process: sourcing, screening qualifying candidates, coordinating and managing interviews, maintaining consistent communication with candidates and hiring managers, and provide relevant reporting on all searches (open/filled positions, demographics, etc.)
  • Responsible for the supervision and work assignments of the Foundations Cross-Foundation Administrators (Floaters)
  • Coordinate outside temporary personnel requests that are not assigned to the Floaters
  • Manage the Foundations Summer Internship Program, from the search process to day-to-day management and assessment, which includes working with our Internships/Fellowships Diversity Partners such as All Stars Project, American Evaluation Association, Toigo Foundation, etc. whose programs are designed to support diversity recruitment.
  • Continue to identify special recruitment opportunities such as our partnership with READI Chicago, a Heartland Alliance Program, to expose participants to an office setting and build on existing skills to help prepare these participants for future, career opportunities
  • Prepare, update and maintain job descriptions
  • Handle reference checks
  • Manage onboarding and conduct new hire orientation for all employees (regular and temporary)
  • Answer questions and provide HR-related information to employees/management
  • Assist Managing Director and department with coordination and implementation of various projects
  • Assist with coordinating special events for People and Culture and the Foundation
  • Create ad hoc reports as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Experience and expertise in recruiting for not-for-profit organizations
  • Able to work effectively with all levels of the organization and in a diverse work group
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with proven written communication skills
  • A self-starter, with proven problem-solving skills, able to work on multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • HRIS experience; working knowledge of Workday is a plus
  • Must maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • A strong drive for results and success, conveys a sense of urgency, and ensures that solutions have been reached
  • Respond quickly and accurately to internal and external requests for information

The position is currently remote but, in the future, will require commuting to the Chicago office.
