Primary Work Location: In/around the Town, with reporting, office duties, and meetings at Town hall and Town facilities
I. Position Summary:
This is position is responsible for paying out vendors, collecting, tracking, and reporting monthly finances, monitor and resolve bank reconciliations, balance multiple tasks, process expenses, assist with audits, and other duties that arise within the Finance Department.
II. Essential Job Functions:
The below listed essential duties and responsibilities are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for this position.
* prepare journal entries
* complete general ledger operations
* monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements
* reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts
* draw up monthly financial reports
* prepare analysis of accounts as requested
* assist with year-end closings entries
* administer accounts receivable and accounts payable
* prepare tax computations and returns
* assist in preparing budgets and forecasts
* assist with payroll administration
* monitor and resolve bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences
* account/bank reconciliations
* review and process expense reports
* assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process
* assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
* Other tasks as they arise
III. Experience Required:
* Accounting and financial principles and practices
* Understanding of local, state, and federal laws regarding accounting, finances, and taxation
* General accounting practices
* General accounting software systems
IV. Minimum Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent
V. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Knowledge
o Computer literacy
o Understanding of financial reporting
o Proficient in Microsoft applications like Work, Excel, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive
* Skills
o Great verbal and written communication
o Express and exercise independent judgement that is within town policies and procedures

VI. ADA Requirements:
* Work requires sitting, standing, and working in an administrative office setting for extended periods of time. Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
* Work requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear in order to answer the phone, verbally communicate. Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing to draft written correspondences (physical and digital) to perform daily tasks.
VII. Additional Requirements:
* Possession and retention of a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the State of Delaware. All motor vehicle violations must be reported to the supervisor immediately and a good driving record is required to retain position.
