Overview

The Unemployment Insurance Division is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong supervisory background to assist in the planning, coordination, and supervision of various sections within the Division. This includes planning, assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of subordinate staff. Hires and trains subordinate staff. Assists in formulating and implementing section policies and procedures. May oversee activities such as fact finding, adjudication of disputed claims, fraud investigations, reports processing, employer liability determinations, field audits, collection of benefit overpayments and delinquent unemployment taxes, etc. May oversee the Unemployment Insurance Call Center. May make determinations pertaining to coverage of employers under the law. May collect and monitor data for required federal reports. May advise employers and others regarding the provisions of unemployment compensation law as it pertains to collection of contributions. May represent the Department on employer appeals before an Administrative Law Judge or before the Employment Security Board. May testify on behalf of the Unemployment Insurance & Wages Division at Administrative Law Judge and board hearings. Participates in the development, refinement and implementation of automated systems.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in standard office setting. Good human relations skills are needed to deal with upset or irate employers and claimants. Occasional travel may be required for which private means of transportation must be available.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND EITHER one (1) year or more in unemployment compensation, employment services, labor/industrial relations, or legal work that includes one year or more of supervisory experience OR one (1) year or more in the field of human resources with a concentration in benefits or labor relations, investigations, or federal/state unemployment compensation laws and regulations that includes one year or more of supervisory experience.

OR

Associate's degree AND EITHER three (3) years or more in unemployment compensation, employment services, labor/industrial relations, or legal work that includes one year or more of supervisory experience OR three (3) years or more in the field of human resources with a concentration in benefits or labor relations, investigations, or federal/state unemployment compensation laws and regulations that includes one year or more of supervisory experience.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND EITHER five (5) years or more in unemployment compensation, employment services, labor/industrial relations, or legal work that includes one year or more of supervisory experience OR five (5) years or more in the field of human resources with a concentration in benefits or labor relations, investigations, or federal/state unemployment compensation laws and regulations that includes one year or more of supervisory experience.
