Job Description
About the role
As the Director of Operations in Tracy, you will be managing the teams that support manufacturing; Quality, Maintenance, Facilities, and Planning. You will have the VP of Manufacturing, West as your manager who heads up the entire factory. Alongside you, the Dir of Manufacturing will be managing the factory floor and the Production Control Manager will be coordinating the warehouse and doing the production planning. You will be held accountable for ensuring that the equipment in the facility is maintained properly, that the quality team is providing capable service to manufacturing, that the facilities are kept to current standard, and that upcoming project solutions are reviewed and communicated to all teams. VBC Tracy is considered a cost center for which there will be set targets of performance using a set of KPIs. The VP of Manufacturing, West is responsible for the P&L in Tracy.
Management
Coach and lead your Managers/Leads as well as direct officers in operations.
Interact with manufacturing leadership, purchasing, HR, and production control in Tracy and elsewhere within VBC.
Execute on parts of the ramp-up plan for the development of the factory over time.
Support manufacturing with knowledge on upcoming projects, maintenance on equipment, quality control of products, and facilities management.
Work together with other VBC factories to develop safety and quality standards.
Cultivate an ambitious and fact-based work environment through collaboration and team-building.
Participate as a member of the Factory Leadership Team
Coordinate and lead factory tours
Operations
Oversee Tracy Operations: facilities management, quality management, maintenance, and manufacturing engineering divided into three different teams with managers/leads
You will have personnel from HR, Design, Building Systems, Precon, Purchasing, and Project Management to interact with onsite but not as direct reports.
Work with corporate functions on executing annual targets, operating budgets, and supporting initiatives.
Enforce company policies and regulations, including, safety, production, quality, human resources, and finances
Implement continuous improvement measures to the production lines to support the ramp-up and to achieve set targets for labor and overhead costs.
Support the ramp-up of the factory output and stabilize operations over time.
Support standardization practices throughout the factory organization.
Performance reviews and compensation reviews for direct reports.
Enforce manufacturing methods implementation on the factory floor (takt time, tolerances, buffer stations etc.)

Report performance and KPIs to VP of Manufacturing, West
Your authority is to:
Decide on hiring and letting go of personnel as needed to keep in line with budgets and performance.
Decide jointly with manufacturing on manufacturing methods to support the ramp-up of the factory.
Decide on prioritization of work tasks of the teams that report to you.
Qualifications
About you
Long-standing (5+ years) operations management experience preferably in the construction prefabrication space
At least 3+ years of experience as a general manager or in operational leadership
Proven record of practical Lean Manufacturing coaching and implementation.
Experience working with automated prefabricated production preferred.
Ability to cooperate with both leaders and personnel.
Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations for the workspace.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and Excel required.
Proven coaching and mentorship skills.
Relationship-oriented with great attention to people, their development, and the culture.
Strong attention to detail and highly organized; ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing the most pressing and impactful matters.
