Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Fiscal Services Director or Designee, the Accounting Technician performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions such as accounts payable, payroll, budget, and receivable, records and reports; and to do related work as required. •Knowledge of the principles, methods and practices of accounting

•Ability to make arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy

•Ability to check and compare information for completeness and accuracy

•Ability to perform repetitive work requiring concentration on details and the ability to follow established procedures and methods

Requirements / Qualifications

Positions in this class may be assigned responsibility for specific accounting, payroll and/or budget clerical functions within the Fiscal Services Department. The payroll function requires an extensive knowledge of both certificated and classified rules, procedures related to payroll and personnel assignment actions, as well as complex federal, state and county regulations. Employees are required to apply rules, regulations and guidelines from the manuals handbooks and the established business practices. Employees in this class work within established procedures and are expected to exercise judgment in handling individual situations, establishing methods and determining work priorities within existing departmental guidelines
