The Engineer III position is the advanced level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer III position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. An Engineer III is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer III effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressively complex and varied.

Base for this position will be the Plainfield, Indiana Office. The hiring manager may elect to base this position at a Midwest generating facility. The hiring manager may also elect to fill this position in the Carolinas.

Basic/Required Qualifications - Engineer III
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 4 years related experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in engineering theories and principles.
  • Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to create and present reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with in a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • B.S. Civil/Structural Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program
  • Successfully passed FE Exam
  • Successfully passed Professional Engineers Exam.
  • Advanced degree in engineering.
  • Previous work experience providing engineering services for the utility industry.
  • Previous work experience at a power generation facility.
  • Proficient in principles of project management.
  • Experience in the utility industry.
  • Capable of learning quickly, working independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to constant changing of work needs and priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience showing familiarity and knowledge of AISC, ACI, ASCE, AWS, IBC, ASTM, ASME and other applicable codes and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability with STAAD, AutoCAD, and Mathcad.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple assignments.
Working Conditions
  • This is a Hybrid position with 2-3 days at on office or plant during a normal work week. Outages or project support may require more frequent visits to the power plants.
  • Power plant environment with exposure to hot and cold temperatures, humidity, noise, dust, fumes, confined spaces, and heights.
  • Working around pressurized, rotating, and energized equipment.
  • Physical job requirements include walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, and climbing ladders.
  • Base work hours are dayshift 10hrs per day, 4 days per week or an alternate Fridays off schedule. During rare occurrences there may be a need to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and callouts to support outages or emergent problems.
  • Base for this position will be the Plainfield, Indiana Office. The hiring manager may elect to base this position at a Midwest generating facility. The hiring manager may also elect to fill this position in the Carolinas.
Specific Requirements
  • Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
