The Construction Analyst is responsible for various accounting and financial functions for the Construction Division. The incumbent is responsible to align financial reporting and analysis in accordance with accounting principles and company goals and objectives. Critical to the Construction Analyst role is the ability to understand income, expense, and business drivers affecting Construction projects to provide performance reporting, budgeting, and related guidance on project operations. The Construction Analyst acts as a liaison between Operations staff and Finance staff to share efficiency and expense savings initiatives, and to develop automated reports and analytic tools. A distinctive role and unique opportunity to apply technical financial skills, business acumen and problem-solving skill.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

Provide financial assistance with the development, start-up, tracking, close-out, communication, and coordination of Construction projects between the customer and various stakeholders

Analyze processes and provide support to improve efficiency, accuracy, timely documentation, and continual improvements to the process

Conduct efficient, organized data gathering and data analysis and must be able to prepare and coordinate changes.

Execute clear and concise general communications, tactfully coordinate information sharing, and manage information flow between stakeholders.

Assist with the development of project plans and schedules, including tracking progress against established timelines.

Conduct research and analysis to identify project risks and opportunities for improvement and present findings.

Develop and maintain project performance metrics and provide regular reporting to the project team. Utilize Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) methodology and other industry reporting tools and methods.

Monitor project budgets and expenditures, identifying variances, and working with the project team to develop solutions

Assist with the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and other project documentation.

Attend project meetings and provide input on project status, risks, and issues

Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that project activities are aligned with project goals and objectives

Analyze project data to identify trends and recommend process improvements

Support the project team in identifying and resolving issues related to project scope, schedule, and budget

Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

Bachelors degree in business related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience, two (2) years of which were construction project focused. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience as follows:

Two (2) year Business degree, plus seven (7) years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience, three (3) years of which were construction project focused.

Nine (9) years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience, four (4) years of which were construction project focused.

In depth knowledge of government contracting laws, rules, and regulations including the Federal Acquisition Regulars, (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

Experience with complex, automated accounting software.
