Duties

As a Supervisory Physical Security Specialist at the GS-0080-15 grade level, some of your typical work assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Serves as the technical authority and advisor to the Assistant Director for Judicial Security on the selection and application of physical security systems and equipment for U.S. Judicial facilities.
  • Develops Judicial Security Systems (JSS) policies, guidance, and procedures, etc. and ensures that the policies, regulations, and procedures are in compliance with Federal statutes, Departmental directives, and applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Consults with the Budget Officer and assists with the following: formulation of the JSS budget, preparation of budget estimates for current and future years, management of the annual budget, prioritization of requirements, and the tracking and reporting of expenditures by project.
  • Develops short and long range plans for the management of human and material resources to achieve program objectives.
  • Provides technical and policy advice and guidance for work accomplishment, resolves work related problems, and accepts or rejects work in terms of established standards and procedures. Evaluates performance and potential of assigned subordinates.

Qualifications

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit Promotion applicants must provide an SF50 Notice of Personnel Action that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF50 must include the position, title, series, grade, step, tenure, type of service (Competitive or Excepted) and career status (career or career-conditional). No award SF50 will be accepted as proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility.
  • One year at the GS-14 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-15 grade level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the education and/or experience required for the grade level(s) to which you apply.

To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must meet the following:

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties:

  1. Developing plans for security improvements using state-of-the-art equipment;
  2. Directing security equipment installation activities;
  3. Assisting with the following: formulation of the agency budget, preparation of budget estimates for current and future years management of the annual budget, and the tracking and reporting of expenditures by project;
  4. Drafting, interpreting and applying physical security regulations and policies in order to resolve security problems; and
  5. Developing short- and long-range plans for the management of human and material resources to achieve program objectives.
