What you will do

The Systems Integration & Test Directorate has a position available in for the Effectors Center. This work will include duties as an Electronic/Flight Test Engineer located at Eglin AFB, Ft Walton Beach, FL. This Flight Test Engineer position will be primarily involved with the AMRAAM® missile that is a multi-platform, multi-service weapon, reporting to the IVC Field/Test Support Section Lead and Department Manager. You must be able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. The work is performed under general direction, and you must be able to independently determine and develop solutions. This is a demanding, hands-on, flight line support position. You may be required to work non-standard and extended hours under potentially extreme conditions. Listed below are some of the duties.
  • Flight test planning, execution, and data review.
  • Missile build and testing, flight line missile preparation and testing.
  • Extensive use of COMSEC equipment, AIS computers, and telemetry equipment
  • Maintaining and reconfiguring munitions, monitoring weapon telemetry in a control room environment performing flight line operations and communicating directly to customers daily.

Qualifications you must have:

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years.

related professional experience in flight test planning, execution, and data review.
  • Experience with flight test of weapons systems.
  • Experience using telemetry software and associated hardware.
  • Experience with Windows based PCs, software, and peripheral hardware.
  • Experience troubleshooting varied electronic equipment.
  • Experience with Communications Security (COMSEC) equipment.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance."
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience performing successfully in an open environment with frequent and direct interaction with Government customers and peers.
  • Stem degree in Engineering discipline.
  • Strong communications skills both verbal and written.
  • Engineering leadership experience with a team and/or project
  • Strong customer relationship experience
  • Experience interpreting requirements and translating knowledge points into test plans and procedures.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-1553 and MIL-STD-1760 interfaces
  • Experienced in Failure Review, Failure Investigation and Root Cause and Correction Action Boards.
  • Able to travel to domestic and possible foreign sites.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
