Title: Accounting Manager

Department: Finance

Reports to: Chief of Staff

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Salary: $70,000

The primary purpose of this position is to support the efforts of the Finance Department in fulfilling our agency's mission.

The expectations of this position are that all work will meet the following three criteria: accurate, complete, and timely, while meeting the agency standards for attendance and punctuality, positive interactions with others, effective work habits, knowledge and skills, judgment, and ethics.

Essential duties of this position include:
  • Responsible for monthly contract and grant billing as assigned & meeting all billing deadlines,
  • Work with funding agencies to resolve billing disputes and alert the Chief of Staff to collection challenges.
  • Complete all required grantor financial reporting requirements
  • Monthly bank account reconciliations
  • Completion of balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Process payroll bi-weekly and enter into MIP.
  • Regular Monitoring all accounting processes such as Payroll runs, AP check processing, AR submissions, cash receipts, journal entry completion and approval
  • Evaluate quality and impact of accounting services to agency staff and programs
  • Provide consultation and support to agency staff related to all financial matters
  • Direct finance and program budget review meetings
  • Establish, evaluate, and maintain effective accounting systems and infrastructure
  • Assist with annual agency audit and other department specific audits
  • Assist the Chief of Staff with the annual budgeting process.
  • Other duties as assigned

Scheduling:

This position generally works weekday, daytime hours. Some early evenings or weekends are necessary to meet the needs of the position.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Four years of accounting experience.
  • Three years' experience in a non-profit environment and grant management accounting strongly preferred.
  • History of working with accounting software and online platforms successfully
  • Being very comfortable with Excel and other Microsoft Office products
  • Able to pass an extensive background check related to position requirements.
  • Obtain Fingerprint Clearance within one year of being hired
  • Enjoys working with diverse populations from various backgrounds
  • Strong attention to detail with few errors
  • Since driving may occasionally be required to fulfill the job functions, a valid Arizona driver's license, reliable transportation, clean driving record, and current auto insurance are preferred

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, physical demands the employee will regularly encounter include sitting, standing, climbing stairs, walking, driving, carrying up to 25 pounds, operating a computer keyboard, firm or strong grasping and repetitive hand control, making and receiving telephone calls. The job requires the ability to work in stressful situations from time to time and remain focused for extended periods of time.

Work Environment

The worker works inside. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
