Purchasing Manager

We are seeking a Purchasing Manager who wants to make a difference. We are team oriented and seek a core value fit to work with our dynamic purchasing team. We need a person who loves working with people, who is organized, understands analytics, and has a desire to grow and learn.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Leadership of purchasing department functions, including managing buyers, purchase of materials and supplies, administration, expediting and vendor document control.
  • Develop sound cost effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used within the business.
  • Responsible for maintaining material specifications required to purchase quality, cost effective materials for production from approved vendors.
  • Conduct cost saving analyses and set benchmarks for departmental improvement.
  • Build solid communication and relationships within all key contacts in our supply chain.
  • Identification, vetting, and selection of new vendors and services.
  • Demonstrates professional success in negotiating pricing and contracts with suppliers.
  • Proactively communicate with sales staff, project management, operations, and other departments on material status.
  • Participate in new product development.
Requirements

Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
  • Associate's degree in business, Finance or Supply Chain or applicable work experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance or Supply Chain strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of demonstrated success as a Purchasing Manager or Supervisor. Wood or construction experience a plus.
  • Balance of strong negotiation and relationship building skills a must.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office products and specialized software programs.
  • Execution oriented, with a strong sense of urgency around tangible results.
  • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills.
  • Participative management style (mentor, team builder, coach).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Exceptional work ethic, energy, and drive.

Equipment: Computer, Office equipment, other as may be required.

Physical Activities and Safety: 80% sitting, 20% walking - Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Must strictly adhere to company safety policy, including wearing safety glasses where required.
