Job Title: Senior Buyer

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range: $80,000 - $95,000
  • Benefits include bonus potential, health, dental and vision insurance, 401k with 4% company match, equity shares, sick and vacation leave

Job Summary:

The Senior Buyer will focus on tactical procurement, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials and packaging. This role is primarily responsible for managing day-to-day purchasing activities, vendor relationships, and ensuring that procurement aligns with production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute day-to-day procurement of raw materials, packaging, and supplies to meet production requirements.
  2. Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and vendors.
  3. Manage the creation and processing of purchase orders, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  4. Collaborate with the production and central planning teams to ensure optimal inventory levels.
  5. Monitor material costs and seek opportunities to reduce expenses without compromising quality.
  6. Track and evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and pricing.
  7. Assist in managing supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with terms, and renegotiating when necessary.
  8. Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in tactical procurement, preferably in the food production or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong vendor and supplier management skills, with a focus on maintaining quality and cost control.
  • Familiarity with inventory management, planning, and procurement processes.
  • Ability to negotiate short-term contracts and purchase orders to achieve favorable terms.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in the food manufacturing or food production industry.

Language and Mathematical Ability:

  • Must be able to write and speak, both clearly and effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency in procurement software and tools, and ability to maintain accurate records.

Supervision and Physical Demands:

  • This position reports to the VP of Supply Chain.
