Position Summary

The Data Processing Specialist (DPS) processes all mailing data according to Direct Marketing Solutions (DMS) client specifications and USPS mailing regulations.

Essential Functions
  • Processes mailing data using Redpoint/BCC Ignite software, following all established processes and client instructions to ensure the integrity and security of the data.
  • Applies understanding of USPS mailing regulations and presorting procedures to help manage USPS files and provide accurate mail.dat files to production.
  • Communicates with Account Managers and the data processing team to ensure all provided instructions are accurate and fully understood; creates written documentation of any changes.
  • Identifies and reports any inconsistencies found in the data upon discovery.
  • Creates and provides signoffs and samples to the assigned account manager for review and approval prior to finalizing any job.
  • Maintains acceptable accuracy rates by correcting any errors found during the review process.
  • Maintains open lines of communication to ensure on-time delivery at all phases of the process.
  • Updates and refines existing Redpoint workflows; designs programs for new mailing projects.
  • Builds competence with basic functions in postpresort software suites.
  • Stays up to date with changes in USPS regulations, promotions, and mailing industry standards.
  • Participates in a collaborative team environment that focuses on continuous improvement and problem solving.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Completes additional assignments and special projects from the Data Processing Manager as needed.
  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with DMS Values and the Code of Conduct.
  • Learns and adheres to all information technology and data security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Learns and adheres to DMS rules and established policies for workplace health and safety.
  • Adheres to all other DMS policies and procedures.
  • Completes all required compliance training on time and in good faith.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Six months to one year of experience with direct marketing mail or data processing
  • Familiarity with USPS standards and regulations
  • Experience with software analysis, testing, and debugging
  • Familiarity with software programming fundamentals and relational databases
  • Experience with version control preferred
  • Experience with programming languages like FoxPro, VB6, and SQL preferred
  • Experience with data mining and manipulation preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel) preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple projects
  • Ability to learn with limited instruction
