The Financial Analyst is responsible for a variety of advanced level professional accounting, auditing, and statistical work involving preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling financial transactions, statements, records, and reports. This role performs a variety of grant management and reporting including responsibility for administering grants; assists in preparing the year-end audit reports and schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish grants and account setup in financial system for effective expenditure tracking and reporting
  • Track grant awards and monitor due dates for invoicing and reporting
  • Develop, amend, review and manage grant budgets and perform revenue and expenditure analysis
  • Assists with maintenance of rates and budgets
  • Performs reconciliation and overall analysis of expenditures and final award closeouts and ensures reports and invoices are submitted timely to meet funders requirements
  • Monitor grant expenditures and ensure proper documentation
  • Keeps abreast of all regulatory compliance and other related requirements
  • Communicates and maintains relationships with provider contract managers and staff to achieve fiscal goals
  • Responsible for all financial reporting as defined by each funder/grant, including quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports and periodic billings
  • Maintain documentation for all reporting, reports and billings.
  • Advise Project Managers and/or department managers about allowable expenses in each grant and funder restrictions.
  • Create and maintain ongoing forecasts to better understand future obligations and potential variances
  • Assist with grant/contract proposals and applications, including providing fiscal/budget support to ensure timelines are met
  • Ensure compliance with funder requirements
  • Support financial audits, and ensure documentation is properly maintained.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining accounting controls, processes and policies.
  • Assists Director of finance developing business plans and forecasts based on predictive models and activity-based financial analysis.
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance. Master's in business administration (MBA) preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or budgeting
  • Experience administering and managing federal grants
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), GAAP, FASB, and Fund Accounting
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, billing procedures, budgeting and fiscal management as they relate to non-profit organizations
  • Experience developing and analyzing detailed budgets, and resolving complex budgeting issues
  • Ability to work with and interpret contracts, laws/legislation, regulations, policies as well as other technical documents
  • Must have experience processing financial transactions using an ERP system and/or accounting software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Expert level of proficiency in Excel
Work Environment and physical demands
  • The incumbent generally works in an office or home office environment, uses computers, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. ??The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.?
  • Sedentary work primarily involves sitting and standing. ?Required to use repetitive hand motion, talk, handle, reach, hear, bend or lift up to 20 pounds.?
