POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Clinical Services oversees the daily operations of assigned treatment programs. The primary responsibilities include providing supervision to designated counselors, case coordinators/case managers, , and frontline supervisors; providing clinical oversight of assigned cases and leading clinical staffings; monitoring levels of service and associated billables; ensuring adherence to organizational policies and external regulations; participating in the selection process for new team members, and overseeing program development and program implementation, This position will also help to meet the needs of the YOCs primary customers: the residents, family, courts, Juvenile Probation Department, Department of Child Services, and the schools. Leadership skills are required, as the Director of Clinical Services must be able to recognize issues/concerns and provide appropriate accountability and follow up for team members.

PRIMARY JOB EXPECTATIONS

1. Leadership and Supervision

Provides guidance, support and consultation to assigned team members through individual and group supervision, informal supervision (as necessary), and various clinical staffings.
Completes written performance evaluations of assigned team members and provides feedback regarding their performance on a regular basis. Reviews and approves performance evaluations for direct care staff members within the assigned programs.
Works in collaboration with the HR Department and the COO regarding staff disciplinary action.
Identifies areas of professional development for team members within assigned programs and makes recommendations to the Chief Operations Officer regarding training needs, continued education and licensure and accreditation requirements.

2. Clinical Oversight of Programs and Services

Works in conjunction with Admissions Director to reviews referrals, participate in pre-placement interviews (as needed) and recommend acceptance or denial of placement for assigned programs within established timeframes.
Oversees all aspects of clinical services within the assigned treatment programs including making case assignments, monitoring treatment progress, making treatment recommendations, facilitating clinical staffings, and ensuring use of evidence-based treatment interventions and best practice standards.
Provides oversight and monitoring regarding levels of service (clinical services, educational services, medical services, independent living services, etc.), counselor productivity, and quality and timely completion of all required documentation
Participates in developing, recommending, and monitoring changes to the Youth Opportunity Centers behavior modification programs.
Understands and helps to meet the needs of the Youth Opportunity Centers primary customers: the child, family, Courts, Juvenile Probation Department, Department of Child Services, and the schools. Seeks resolution when issues arise.
Examines outcomes and other data collection/tracking reports, helps to identify trends/concerns, and ensures adequate follow-up.
Ensures adherence to organizational policies and compliance with all external regulations and standards.
Maintains an awareness of trends in the field and legislative initiatives that might impact residential services.
Participates in a clinical and management on call rotation for consultation and direction after hours.

3. Organizational Engagement

Maintains a physical presence in assigned programs. Engages in program/campus activities, interacting with staff and residents and attending/participating in events.
Assists in the short-term planning process for assigned programs and the clinical chain at large.
Works closely with other departments and assists with addressing concerns (QA, HR, IT, etc.)
Participates in designated meetings and serves on committees, as assigned.
Seeks opportunities to serve the community and grow professionally.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

A Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family, or Human Service related program. Must be licensed by the state of Indiana as an LMHC, LMFT or LCSW and have at least 3 years supervised experience. Training and experience in the supervision of clinical staff is also required.

FUNDAMENTAL QUALIFICATION

Must be able to demonstrate awareness of the cultural and socioeconomic differences of our clients as well as value a nurturing family as the ideal environment; a commitment to empowering others to solve their own problems and a conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change; the ability to establish a respectful relationship with persons served to help them gain skills and confidence by maintaining a helping role and appropriately intervening to meet service goals; the ability to set appropriate limits.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS NEEDED

Good working knowledge of Theoretical and Clinical practices
Awareness of complex trauma and experience with high-risk youth populations
Strong leadership and supervisory skills
Results orientation
Excellent time management skills and the ability to support multiple work assignments simultaneously
Ability to take initiative and formulate a course of action to accomplish goals
Must be adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people and situations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Clinical Services supervises Counselors, Case Coordinators/Case Managers, Frontline Supervisors, and support staff, as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS

Typical work week is Monday-Friday 40 hours. Position requires additional hours when necessary to complete special projects or meet specific deadlines. The Director of Clinical Services will have regular contact with the YOC program/clinical staff members, members of office administration, and YOC executive staff members. Direct contact with state agencies, accrediting bodies, placing agencies, and families, by phone and in person, is a function of this position. Courtesy and professionalism are expected at all times.
