Job Overview: The Sr. Staff Accountant position is crucial for ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting general accounting functions for our client, a leading specialty wholesale distributor in the woodworking industry. This role involves direct reporting to the Regional Controller in Reading, PA, and close collaboration with the Corporate Controller and Accounting Team at the headquarters. Responsibilities include daily sales reporting, month-end schedules, budget preparation, and inter-company activities management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Daily preparation and submission of Sales and Gross Profit Reports.
  • Month-end schedules preparation and key ad-hoc reports analysis.
  • Support in regional budgets preparation, including sales and gross profit.
  • Manage inter-company activities, including transactions posting and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Process daily cash activities and oversee A/R and A/P functions.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals for month-end closing, and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Assist in annual budgeting process and internal/external audits, including trend analysis and audit sample provision.
  • Engage in cross-functional meetings and projects focusing on process improvements.
  • Support financial statement comprehension among regional and branch staff to aid in profit margin improvement.
Requirements Include:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Experience: Minimum 5 years as a Staff Accountant.
Skills: Strong analytical, communication skills, and a thorough understanding of accounting processes.
Certifications: CPA is a plus.
Knowledge: Solid grasp of all balance sheet accounts and P&L components.
Key Competencies: Team orientation, problem resolution, financial communication, and flexibility.

Additional Information: This position requires a proactive individual with a manufacturing or distribution background, preferred advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, V-Lookups), and a willingness to engage in diverse accounting tasks. The role is based in Reading, PA, with occasional requirements for communication and cooperation with the corporate office in Vernon Hills, IL.
