Maxar Technologies is seeking a TS/SCI Cleared System Engineer to work in an agile and fast paced development environment supporting analysts whose mission is to solve unique and challenging intelligence problems for National interests. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and have the unique opportunity to interact directly with software developers and other technologists to ensure applications and tools meet the needs of the customer. The ideal candidate is creative and driven, passionate about technology, and able to learn quickly.?

You will work with a team of forward-thinking system/software engineers to build novel solutions for challenging problems for both US Government and industry customers centered on the development of platforms, applications and systems focused on space object, missile tracking and developing interfaces and data translations between disparate systems. The focus of this position will be to contribute to the development of all aspects of the platform architecture, system and full-lifecycle software development conducted in an agile environment.

What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):

  • Designing and developing platform tools for data analysis.

  • Presenting your results to current customers and integrating with their teams.

  • Integrating and developing applications for future object detection, identification, tracking and characterization.

  • Maintaining and enhancing existing custom applications.

  • Support migration activities into cloud environments.

  • Modernizing workflows and interfaces, customizing to include new mission areas and topics.

  • Providing exceptional customer support for our clients.

  • Gather and decompose mission requirements into program technical requirements and tie them to program milestones in concert with mission stakeholders.

  • Participate in technical solutioning, architecture design, and integration working sessions to understand system design goals and constraints.

  • Ensures that program technical resource needs are defined and met by working with the functional capability teams to identify and secure appropriate expertise & resources.

  • Evaluates the integration of the engineering solution within the overall engineering environment; ensures that appropriate documentation, testing, maintenance, and engineering updates are completed in accordance with Systems Engineering best practices.

  • Executes program plans to conform to cost, schedule, production, and performance commitments and communicated by the PM and Technical Director.

  • Coordinate with test and evaluation teams to align on appropriate level of end-to-end testing and customer-facing testing.

  • Identify sequencing and dependencies on/with other major initiatives/programs within the program.

  • Supports development of interface control documents, software requirement specifications, performance specifications, presentations and review test plans/procedures.

  • Keeps comprehensive notes/records, provides formal documentation following established processes and makes technical presentations, as required.

  • Lead validation of end-to-end solution for mission value and operations transition.

  • Support the Agile process used to facilitate system baseline changes, taking ownership of those deliverables expected from the customer organization.

  • Ensure quality by managing system and component-level requirements providing traceability to design documentation, test cases, and operational training material.

  • Develop as-built design documents for software & hardware components.

  • Create system-level functional flows with an ability to frame all requirements inside those flows.

  • Lead development of as-built models and design documents for components to ensure all documentation is current.

  • Make contributions to the enterprise vision, engineering processes, and overall architecture roadmap.

  • Participate in design sessions with the broader team from back-end processing to user interfaces.

Minimum requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen with a current TS/SCI clearance.

  • Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering or closely related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience.

  • Experience developing software using a variety of languages.

  • Experience with software engineering tools (i.e., OpenShift, Rancher Kubernetes Engine (RKE), kubeadm, Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) minishift, minikube, kind used for local development and testing.

  • Familiarity with the Agile development process and tools.

  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7, 6.8, 7; CentOS, Scientific Linux.

  • Experience with Ubuntu and Debian.

  • Experience shell scripting using Bourne, Korn, C-Shell, and Bash shells.

  • Strong problem solving and thinking skills are required to quickly update existing models and scenarios to reflect the unique capabilities and solutions being considered.
