Florida Crystals is a leading domestic sugar producer and North America’s first fully integrated cane sugar company, guiding our sugar from farm to table. We are America’s first and only producer of certified organic sugar, grown and harvested in the United States. Our renewable energy facility is the largest of its kind in North America and provides clean energy that powers our sugar operations, which helps us reduce our use of fossil fuels. Florida Crystals also sustainably farms rice, sweet corn, and other vegetables in rotation with our sugarcane. Our rice mill is the only rice mill in Florida. Overview The Jr. Project Engineer will work with Project Engineers providing general engineering/technical entry-level support. The Jr. Project Engineer will assist the Technical Services Group in developing project plans, drawings, scope of work, bill of materials, schedules, and at times acting as department liaison and coordinator with Operations team and Contractors. Provide overall administrative & technical support for Project Management, Engineering, and other critical business functions. Effectively manage multiple priorities with clarity and focus. Assists with the coordination of planning, drafting, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within an area of assigned responsibility by performing the following responsibilities personally or through other engineering personnel. Detailed Roles & Responsibilities Coordinates daily with Project Engineers regarding day-to-day projects progress, and plant access or impact to the operation. Provides general, entry-level support to the engineering department. Identifies potential areas of project improvement; recommends and assists Project Engineers with development of appropriate solutions. Works jointly with operations and maintenance to continuously identify and develop plant improvements. Prepare engineering drawings that detail plans and specifications. Assist engineering and project management staff with day-to-day project functions, as needed, including researching product or equipment specifications, scope of works development, material list, contacting vendors, and other support functions as needed. Assist project engineers with providing correct drawings and bills of materials to manufacturing in a timely fashion on sales orders. Prepare complex drawings (e.g., PFDs, P&IDs, 3D Solid models, scaled equipment layouts, and equipment details). Work under the direction of the Technical Director or assignee, Project Manager and/or Project Engineer to design complex drawings, such as P&ID, construction documents, routine equipment design layouts, detailed drawings, and piping. Provides technical support and direction to contractors in the field or through drawing notes. Assist contractual activities by scheduling contractor’s work assignments, setting priorities, and directing contractual work schedules to meet project schedules. Assist in the filing and organizing of drawings/documentation and project’s folders. Must be able to provide budget recommendations for both maintenance and operations. Must be able to develop and implement engineering goals, objectives & operational improvements that are consistent with Company’s objectives. Works jointly with Project Engineers in the field dimensions taken and design development through the field discussions. Education Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or other related discipline required. Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 5 to 10 years AutoCAD experience (desirable). Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Knowledge of AutoCAD). LEVEL OF SUPERVISION Report to Technical Group Director or assignee. Jr. Project Engineer will work with project management staff to set work priorities. Work independently based on instructions, directions, or requests received from Director and/or Lead Project Manager. Skills ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES) Have demonstrated knowledge of the equipment, methods, and materials used in the design, retrofit, repair, and maintenance of a power plant, or industrial process facilities. Have demonstrated knowledge of equipment and components in power generation, or industrial processes. Skill in reading, interpreting, and analyzing information from instruments, charts, and schematic drawings as applicable. Skills in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with co-workers and outside agencies. Skill in developing, implementing, and overseeing through completion of both long and short-term project plans. Skill in resolving problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment. Skill in preparing clear and concise written reports. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner with Project engineers and plant employees at all working and management levels. Experience with Auto Cad software preferred. Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites. Ability to receive, comprehend and utilize OSHA required training. Ability to ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders as part of normal work activity and emergency egress situations. Ability to work in contrasting plant environments. Ability to move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating, wet and muddy areas, and uneven surfaces.
