Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pipe Layer to join our team at Jr. Davis Construction Company, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of manual construction tasks under the direction of a crew foreman.

Key Responsibilities

Install or use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, or transit levels to ensure accurate pipe installation.
Cut pipes to required lengths and connect pipe pieces, sealing joints using welding equipment, cement, or glue.
Cover pipes with earth or other materials to protect them from damage.
Install or repair sanitary or storm water sewer structures or pipe systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects, including site setup, maintenance, and cleanup.
Load, unload, or distribute materials, machinery, or tools to and from designated locations, ensuring efficient workflow.
Direct traffic at or near building sites and carry out other traffic management activities to ensure site safety.
Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to prepare sites for construction.
Use picks, shovels, and rakes to level earth or asphalt to grade specifications, ensuring accurate measurements.
Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts, to ensure smooth construction processes.
Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to power construction equipment, ensuring efficient operation.
Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials, ensuring safe and efficient workflow.
Assist craft workers, such as carpenters, ironworkers, plasterers, and masons, to complete construction tasks.
Measure, mark, or record openings or distances as part of site preparation, ensuring accurate measurements.
May be called upon to operate a variety of power and hand tools, including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, mechanical hoists, surveying, measuring, and other equipment, to complete construction tasks.
Maintain a clean work area by disposing of trash and debris properly, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Promote and adhere to the company's safety program, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements

High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
3+ recent years' experience working as a Pipe Layer
Active Driver's license

Work Environment

The successful candidate will regularly work in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity. They will frequently work near moving mechanical parts and be frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. They will handle various toxic products, such as epoxies, grouts, sealers, paints, and cleaners, with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
