Position Description:

The manager will report to an Associate Director. The senior manager will be responsible for helping the area achieve their safety, quality, and customer focused goals and objectives. The senior manager will provide leadership across a 24/7 operation via direct supervision of shift supervisors.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Safety - Ensures that all work functional team leaders are knowledgeable and compliant regarding safety procedures, policies, permits and practices. Initiates and leads accident, near miss reviews and incident notifications. Implements safety related actions and initiatives to grow safety culture. Ensures proper housekeeping procedures are maintained.
  • Quality – Responsible for Warehouse and ILS operations and meeting the quality standards as defined by cGMPs, the Global Quality Standards, local procedures. Also, should be trained to perform TrackWise activities such as Lead Investigator, Change Owner, Action Planning, and Work Item implementation. Maintain quality metrics and positively impact deviation trend data associated with Warehouse and logistics activities.
  • Manage People Effectively – Responsible for managing daily operations across all shifts, including attendance, overtime, operational issues, performance management, development planning and reporting of results.
  • Maintaining Operations – The manager is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of the daily Warehouse activity plan for Buildings 6, 8 & 10. This role will escalate to department leadership any issues that required escalated resolution. The manager will develop functional team members and supervisors in a manner that supports a stabilized operation of all Warehouse and logistical operations. Also, must be able to interact and/or lead cross functional teams to deliver technical and business solutions.
  • Operational Excellence – Foster a commitment to continuous improvement through data collection, evaluation, and prompt and effective implementation by the operations personnel and the process team. The leader is expected to learn and utilize the Lilly provided tools associated with Six Sigma, OSSCE and Trackwise CAPA actions to achieve continuous improvement. Will be expected to initiate and facilitate quarterly value stream activities in order to effectively managed RTP WH/ILS processes.
  • Other – Leader and contributor of the WH&L Operations Process Team and Safety Team; Designated leader for the WH&L Operations Process Team.

Requirements (Education, Experience, Training):

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain and/or logistics within a pharmaceutical environment

Preferred attributes but not required:

  • Previous experience in directly leading personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally multi-level within the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to provide coaching and feedback
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, set objectives and meet targets
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-level customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to work without close supervision
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely, and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals
  • Technical experience with automation and automated system concepts. Must be able to understand technical concepts and troubleshoot across multiple functional operating systems (SAP, PMX, EWM, Lift, DiQ).
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to identify, escalate and resolve technical issues that may fall within direct ownership of multiple functional areas.
  • Experience in implementing solutions based upon Lean concepts.
  • Must be able to balance safety and patient oriented mindsets. Experience supporting a “Safety First, Quality Always” culture.

Other Information:

  • This position supports a 24/7 operation and is expected to be flexible in maintaining availability for support in decision making and issue resolution as necessary to operate the facility.
  • Occasional travel may be required
