Position Summary The role of the Maintenance Engineer is to maintain the hotel's customer and heart of house areas in accordance with brand standards by performing preventative maintenance and repairs as necessary. Responsibilities include: Responding to both customer and hotel staff reports of non-functioning equipment immediately. Maintaining a problem logbook to record the equipment in need of repair and prioritizing efforts accordingly. Reporting any hazards or injuries in the department or hotel and taking immediate action to correct. Maintaining rooms in operating condition by performing repairs as needed. Understanding the Room Preventative Maintenance Program (R.P.M.). Managing full building systems during the shift. Preparing preventative maintenance cart for use each day. Replacing or repairing all appliances and damaged bathroom fixtures; executing general plumbing as needed. Maintaining overall appearance of rooms; replacing broken mirrors, hanging fixtures, doing touch-up painting, etc. Repairing and maintaining room's heating/ventilating/air conditioning systems. Performing preventative maintenance throughout the hotel. Maintaining the condition of hotel lobbies and restaurants. Repairing furniture, carpet, marble, tile, windows, mirrors and decorations as necessary. Maintaining operating equipment in working condition by performing routine equipment checks and repairs. Attending schools or seminars to remain current on proper techniques. Creating 100% guest satisfaction by providing Yes I Can genuine hospitality and by exceeding guest expectations. Giving personal attention, taking personal responsibility and using teamwork when providing guest service. Listening, apologizing with empathy, finding a solution and following through when resolving guest problems. Assuming the responsibility to notice when the guest is not satisfied and using their best judgment as to when it is appropriate to use the 100% Guest Satisfaction Guarantee. Performing other duties as required to provide Yes I Can genuine hospitality. Requirements/Skills Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 to 3 years of general facility maintenance experience, preferably within the hospitality industry. Additional requirements include: Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to successfully pass a driving record check. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well independently or as part of a team. Strong attention to detail. Commitment to exceptional guest service. Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude when handling all situations. Adherence to the policies and procedures of the hotel. Ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends. Working knowledge of computer and math skills. Experience in pool maintenance, HVAC units, plumbing, and electrical work is also a benefit. Certifications for HVAC CPO preferred. Physical Demands Occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time and hear with 100% accuracy with correction. Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for an eight (8) hour shift and lift, pull, push up to 100 pounds on an ongoing basis. Must be able to squat, bend, kneel and twist on an ongoing basis. Other Information The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All associates must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shift and alter assigned duties as business dictates. In addition, this is a hospitality business, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be maintained at all times.
