Requests substitute product information, pictures, specs, and coordinates. Speak with end user for end user to make decision if substitute product acceptability. Confirms price, quantity, packaging, product information, delivery date, shipping, and terms while placing orders and makes certain any changes are made appropriately. Coordinates bid process following the RFP policy. Coordinates the execution of contracts and communicates outcomes to all concerned. Follows up on all open orders. Expedites orders by calling vendors to obtain status on open orders, past due, and backorder reports;. Updates information on purchase orders and informs appropriate persons of revised estimated arrival dates. Identifies non-contract items and suggests appropriate actions to Contract Coordinator. Requests competitive bids and performs cost analysis on proposals provided as per policy; negotiates payment terms and pricing for best value. Researches as required by policy on equipment, via MD Buyline. Runs, reviews and analyzes purchasing reports and performs research necessary to resolve problem. Makes corrections as needed to expedite problem orders. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Experience with Lawson or PeopleSoft preferred. Experience as a buyer in a premier participating organization preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Able to respond to rapidly changing priorities. Capable of viewing the problem resolution process from a systems perspective and be eager to accept the challenges of providing imaginative approaches to their resolutions. Strong commitment to professional ethics and professional business practices. Outstanding knowledge, skills, and experience in negotiation and purchasing processes. Strong business, organizational skills needed.
