Description:
Position is for increased services on the focus areas with the EY work on daily room cleaning in 4W and 7S units.
To maintain a clean and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors at Christiana Care.
Maintains all patient, office, and ancillary areas of the hospital in a clean and sanitary condition. Maintains all carts/equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Carts/equipment are not to be left unattended. Maintains a clean/orderly appearance in all Environmental Services closets. Maintains paper and soap supplies in all areas of the hospital. Cleans/disinfects all precaution rooms in accordance with infection control policies/procedures. Picks up trash in assigned areas and places in central location for bulk pick-up. Strips/refinishes floor, shampoos carpets/upholstery, washes walls/windows, and transports furniture/ equipment as assigned. Assists in snow removal emergencies as assigned (reports to a different Supervisor for this task). Answers Environmental Services pages when assigned in a timely manner. Attends regularly scheduled inservice training programs given by the department. Reports any maintenance problems or damages to Supervisor. Maintains a helpful, productive attitude throughout the work day. Picks up trash and soiled linen in assigned areas. Removes needle/glove boxes, chemo buckets, and soiled equipment from patient rooms and takes to soiled utility room. Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Daily contact with Christiana Care employees, patients, and visitors
Knowledge of hospital/departmental policies and procedures. Ability to read and write at a high school level. Ability to lift and walk with a weight of up to 40 pounds. Ability to maintain a high degree of personal hygiene. Ability to maintain a courteous, service oriented, helpful attitude throughout the workday. Ability to work in a standing position and carry out normally assigned duties for the entire shift. Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially regarding patients.
Education:
High School diploma or GED required
Mon-Fri every other weekend and Holiday as needed. With a day off within the week
