Job Summary

AFL is seeking a Facilities Engineer in Duncan, SC. The Facilities Engineer ensures maintenance of all facilities equipment to support safe and reliable operations.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates maintenance activities; sets daily maintenance priorities to prevent unscheduled downtime.
  • Minimizes emergency breakdowns through execution of a proactive maintenance program.
  • Works with the site management and maintenance teams on all facilities maintenance activities.
  • Requests project bids, analyzes costs, and oversees on-site work of contractors.
  • Assists with emergency coverage as required based on plant schedule.
  • Utilizes engineering systems to identify high cost/repeat failure components and establishes plans to improve maintenance performance.
    • Able to use tools and be hands on
    • Able to think logically and troubleshoot
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.

  • Strong technical abilities
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technologies, preferably Facilities Tools and Technologies, Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics.
  • 4+ years of plant engineering/maintenance/equipment reliability working experience
  • 3+ years of working knowledge with computer systems to include MS Office and AutoCAD.
    • Strong facilities systems, maintenance and repairs background/experience
    • Building related knowledge, construction and handy man know-how
  • Familiar with modern manufacturing improvement tools including: 5S, TPM, Root cause failure analysis, reliability failure mode analysis and remediation, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring
  • Experienced managing relationships with contract services suppliers and equipment suppliers in order to deliver supplemental maintenance and project activities on schedule and within budget.
  • Maintenance project management experience.
Working Conditions
  • Environmentally controlled manufacturing plant with optical fiber coloring, plastic extrusion and metal forming processes.
