Description

The Property Claims Manager is responsible for leading a team of claims adjusters and overseeing the entire lifecycle of property claims, from review and adjustment to settlement. This role focuses on property damage claims within our Personal, Commercial, and Farm insurance lines. Success in this position requires a deep understanding of claims handling, strong communication skills, and the ability to ensure a smooth experience for customers and business partners.

This is a remote position, working out of your home within the state of Wisconsin, requiring travel throughout the state.

Position is provided with a company vehicle, computer and cell phone.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, train, and mentor a team of property claims adjusters, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed. Focus on identifying and nurturing top talent to build a pipeline of high-performing adjusters ready to take on critical roles.
Claims Management: Efficiently assign claims and manage the workload and inventory of each adjuster, ensuring timely and accurate processing of claims in line with company standards.
Customer Relations: Address and resolve customer complaints swiftly and professionally. Monitor customer satisfaction and implement action plans to drive continuous improvement, whether through improvement of process or improvement of claims-handling by individual adjusters.
Financial Oversight: Regularly review claim reserves for adequacy, update timeliness, and ensure proper reinsurance reporting where necessary.
Vendor Coordination: Evaluate when to involve independent adjusters, outside counsel, or other experts, and manage these relationships to ensure high-quality, cost-effective claim resolutions.
Catastrophe Response: Collaborate with the Director of Claims and other managers to coordinate the Claims Department's response to catastrophic weather events (CAT) throughout the State of Wisconsin.
Operational Coordination: Work closely with Claims Management to manage adjuster schedules and ensure coverage during vacations or leaves of absence.
Audits & Reviews: Perform regular open file reviews with adjusters to improve adjuster adherence to best practices. Partner with the Training and Operations Specialist to conduct closed file audits of adjusters' work. Independently carry out annual performance reviews and evaluations.
Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Legal, Subrogation, Underwriting, and Sales, to ensure seamless claims handling and support overall business success.
Strategic Contribution: Support and execute company strategies, aligning the team's efforts with broader corporate goals.
Additional Duties: Take on other responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Claims Department.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Prior experience supervising or managing property claims adjusters is preferred, or a minimum of five years of property claims adjusting experience.
Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of estimating programs such as Xactimate and XactAnalysis, with the ability to train others in their use.
Self-Motivation: Ability to thrive in a self-directed environment, demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently.
Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail, capable of understanding complex physical inquiries and negotiating effectively.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Leadership: Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team toward achieving their goals.
Certification: CPCU designation is preferred, reflecting a commitment to professional development and industry expertise.
