Samaritan Counseling Services has provided licensed mental health counseling in Sarasota and Manatee counties for the past 25 years.We are seeking a Senior Director of Philanthropy who will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing our fundraising program including administering our Capital Campaign along with our campaign team and consultant, CARTER. Samaritan has the components of annual giving, grants, endowment, and capital campaigns, and leadership from this position is essential to our success.

The Senior Director of Philanthropy will manage and cultivate relationships with existing major gift prospects, as well as identifying new prospects. An ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate our organizations mission is key. Youll be expected to energize team members and persuade prospects (with data-driven research) to share information about organizational goals that appeal to each donors unique mission and show that the organization will be good stewards of their gifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with CEO to help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions by building a strong relationship with our organization.

Work with CEO to steward ongoing relationships with major donors.

Cultivate, solicit, and steward financial support from existing and new individuals, foundations, churches, and corporations.

Oversee all fundraising for the organization and supervise the Development Director position.

Develop and share reports and participate in meetings with the Board of Directors and associated committees.

Lead the Steering/Campaign committee to implement and execute Samaritan Counselings Campaign.

Partner with Executive Director on strategies for major gifts to the Campaign.

Work with finance to develop and oversee fundraising budgets.

Collaborate with leadership team to oversee gift processing, grants, fundraising events, and foundation partnerships.

Manage special projects as needed.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. (Word, Excel, PPT)

Excellent organizational, interpersonal communication skills, and independent judgement.

Exceptional negotiation and closing skills.

Ability to communicate the mission and vision of the organization professionally and effectively.

Ability to monitor progress and track results of campaigns, grants, and events.

Ability to understand programs and funding requirements of the organization.

Ability to handle confidential information about clients in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Willing to work occasional weekends and evenings to support donor events.

Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Minimum 5 years experience in fundraising and 3 years experience in major gifts, planned giving, or senior level development work.

Knowledge of the Sarasota/Manatee philanthropic community.

Knowledge of DonorPerfect.

Knowledge of communications, marketing, and accounting methods.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree (advanced degree preferable)

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Starting Salary: $90,000. Commensurate with experience

10 days of vacation in first year of employment

Hybrid work environment

Valid Florida drivers license and auto insurance.
