Position Summary:

Under the direction of senior Diagnostic Laboratory leadership, the Project Manager manages the DL project prioritization process, and coordinates all necessary resources for successful execution of new test development, enhancement, operational sustainment, continuous improvement, and DL related portions of corporate-wide projects and programs in accordance with established PMO best practices. Utilizes project management and LEAN tools to successfully define project objectives, establish tasks and timelines, and report progress (scope, schedule, budget) to successfully facilitate the completion of projects and project plans within established timelines.

Responsibilities:
  • Directs and manages overall project coordination for multiple, cross-functional initiatives by developing and maintaining project scope, goals, deliverables and key milestones according to governance standards and in collaboration with senior management
  • Manages the DL project prioritization process including coordinating resource allocation, prioritization and scoring, project calendars, project submission/trade-off, and status updates
  • Leads coordination and execution of the annual operations and innovation retreats including all documentation and data collection necessary
  • Creates project deliverables including Project Charter, Business Case, change requests, detailed project plan, status reports, communication plan and implementation documentation
  • Collaborates with management, key stakeholders, project sponsors and project team members to drive project execution
  • Manages communications with all areas of the organization that impact scope, budget, risk and resources, and provides project status updates at relevant meeting forums using reports, graphs, Power Point slides and other tools as needed
  • Organizes project activities into manageable work efforts and determines effective approach to complete work according to project plan
  • Identifies and manages risk and issues; facilitates decision-making that is required for continued project progress and contingency actions, and serves as a resource for laboratory management and staff to navigate idea submission and trade off work flows
  • Estimates the resources needed and commitments required to achieve project goals ensuring on-time and on-budget, with high quality delivery
  • Builds and maintains working relationships with all stakeholders to achieve resolution of issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Maintains awareness of the Versiti Project Management Office to standardize, continuously improve, and support project management practices across the affiliates
  • Assists with training, coaching and mentoring new or less-experienced project managers
  • Supports achievement of service line and affiliate goals, in fulfillment of the vision and mission of Versiti
  • Represents Versiti at designated internal and external meetings and assumes other special assignments as designated by the senior leadership team, maintains confidentiality of information, and complies with Versiti safety policies and procedures
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge through participation in meetings, committees, professional development and self-directed learning activities
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
  • Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures


Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, information systems, biology, chemistry, medical technology, or related field required
  • Advanced training in methodologies including change management, project management, process and continuous improvement and cross-functional team facilitation preferred

Experience

  • 4-6 years of progressive project management experience required
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in managing large-scale, cross-functional projects required
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and priorities required
  • Extensive experience in change control, change management, and continuous improvement process and tools required
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (clinical, healthcare, laboratory or pharmaceutical) preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong project management skills related to needs assessment, problem solving, planning, organizing, and implementation of tools and systems across multiple complex organizational units and teams, within designated timeframes required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to adjust style to executive, management, and staff levels, with the ability to coach and motivate others to achieve organizational objectives required
  • Has an understanding of general business and financial principles such as: budget management, productivity, effective utilization, returns on investment, and profitability required
  • Flexible and adaptable to a dynamic and complex environment, comfortable with ambiguity, and proven ability to manage effective meetings and agendas, multiple responsibilities and priorities, meet deadlines, and take direction from senior leadership required

  • Ability to drive change to achieve results consistent with objectives using project management tools and other management tools, including LEAN, root cause analysis, flow charting, metrics, and statistics required
  • Knowledge of quality assurance concepts/practices and regulations/standards related to Diagnostic Laboratories and health care environment (e.g., Food and Drug Administration (FDA), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), and College of American Pathologists (CAP)) required
  • Ability to lead without authority, navigating difficult discussions and situations through fostering collaboration, ensuring communication, and managing expectations required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
