FINCANTIERI BAY SHIPBUILDING - Director of Engineering Location: Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin Position Type: Full-Time; Permanent; Exempt Reports To: Director of Technical Services Position Summary: This position is responsible for defining Contract Requirements related to all acquired Ship Design and Build Projects, Conversions and Repair projects, as well as proposals developed at our 63-acre facility. The successful candidate will support the 1,000+ working men and women on our waterfront by defining department resources needed to meet commitments, coordinating personnel, and assuming various high-level roles within the department, including bid and proposal development. Detailed Responsibilities: Follow and promote FBS Safety Policy. Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures. Establish resource requirements to support FBS business goals. Develop, modify, maintain, and measure departmental capabilities to support Engineering Efforts. Develop and maintain training programs for the engineering group. Lead/sponsor continuous improvement initiatives. Mentor direct reports. Select and hire/terminate employees. Lead meetings with Engineering personnel and other departments to achieve business goals and objectives. Report department performance to FBS Senior Management. Interface with all FBS departments to ensure engineering group deliverables support production. Establish and maintain overhead budgets for the department. Participate in the development of bids and proposals. Manage coordination and overall integration of technical activities in engineering projects. Direct, review, and approve project design changes.
