Reporting To: Director of Technical Services
Position Overview:
The Director of Engineering is tasked with establishing Contract Requirements pertinent to all Ship Design and Build Projects, including Conversions and Repair initiatives. This role is pivotal in supporting the workforce by determining necessary departmental resources to fulfill commitments, coordinating personnel, and undertaking various senior roles within the engineering division, particularly in bid and proposal formulation.
The ideal candidate will:
- Adhere to and advocate for FBS Safety Policy.
- Comply with and enforce all organizational protocols and procedures.
- Identify resource needs to align with FBS business objectives.
- Develop, refine, and assess departmental capabilities to bolster Engineering Efforts.
- Design and implement training programs for the engineering team.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide mentorship to direct reports.
- Oversee the hiring and termination processes.
- Facilitate meetings with Engineering staff and other departments to meet business targets.
- Report on departmental performance to FBS Senior Management.
- Collaborate with all FBS departments to ensure engineering deliverables meet production requirements.
- Establish and manage departmental overhead budgets.
- Engage in the development of bids and proposals.
- Oversee the coordination and integration of technical activities in engineering projects.
- Direct, review, and sanction project design modifications.
