Position Summary:

Our client is an established produce exporting company in Oakland, CA and is seeking a talented Accounting professional to join their team The Controller has primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities of the company, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting and negotiations. The Controller position is required by California corporate law to be the Secretary for the company and to maintain all records in good order and up to date. As part of the management team, the Controller will have interaction with various members of a company, both senior and junior.

Expectation Statement:

The Controller is expected to show continuously increasing knowledge, skill and ability in all Essential Functions and most Additional Responsibilities as part of the company management team.

Essential Job Functions:

Manages, directs, educates and supervises members of the finance and accounting team.

Provides strategic recommendations to the CEO/President and members of the executive management team.

Manages cash flow.

Establishes and develops relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders, in particular the Companys Audit Firm and Bankers.

Participates in key decisions as a member of the executive management team.

Maintains in-depth relations with all members of the management team.

Oversee the financial operations of foreign operations, currently Chile, Turkey and Peru.

Manages any third parties to which accounting or finance functions have been outsourced.

Oversees the company's transaction processing systems.

Implements operational best practices.

Reviews all formal finance related procedures and software systems.

Manages the development and implementation of critical IT systems.

Prepares and issues financial information.

Reports financial results to the board of directors.

Works closely with HR to assist with censuses, payroll, yearly reporting.

Manages the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and the preparation of all financial reporting.

Advises on long-term business and financial planning.

Assists in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.

Monitors and directs the implementation of strategic business plans.

Develops financial strategies.

Manages the capital request and budgeting processes.

Develops performance measures and monitoring systems that support the company's strategic direction.

Understands and mitigates key elements of the company's risk profile.

Constructs and monitors reliable control systems.

Qualification:

A Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or Economics.

MBA or CPA is highly desirable.

10 years experience in the finance industry and managing a team is a must, with examples of when they have demonstrated excellence in the workplace.

Has strong communication skills, both verbally and written.

Capability to engage with staff at all levels of the organization.

Exercises sound judgement.

Excellent proficiency with Excel and all common Microsoft programs.

Exceptional ability to understand and implement software programs in all departments of the company.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.

Must be able to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

Outstanding ability to work with basic and high-level mathematical concepts.

In person role, 5 days a week.

Help other office teams as necessary.

Assist with mandatory office projects.

Physical Demands:

Sit more than 6 hours in a day.
