What You Will Do As the Financial Analyst, you will assist in the development, execution, and monitoring of the Department’s biennial budget. You will serve as a budget analyst for department offices/divisions, assist with the development and preparation of the agency’s biennial budgets, and maintain locally generated tracking spreadsheets and other documentation. Areas of focus include but may not be limited to: Budget Execution and Development: Preparing budget status reports for use in monitoring, evaluating, and application of responsible resource application and budget implementation. Providing payroll projections at fund level on multiple fund sources within each assigned office and maintain updated projections monthly. Fiscal Reporting, Analysis, and Systems: Analyzing and reporting expenditures within the assigned offices for function, project, and work centers. Working with assigned offices to develop expenditure plans to ensure necessary and reasonable expenditures within budget limitations. Working with Budget Director to make limitation adjustments, where necessary when funding is available. Customer Service - ongoing: Performing position duties in a manner which promotes customer service and harmonious working relationships, including treating all persons courteously and respectfully. Engaging in effective team participation through willingness to assist and support co-workers, supervisors, and other work-related associations. Minimum Qualifications (Need to Have): Five years of progressively responsible experience that included the preparation, analysis, and administration of a budget or fiscal system. OR, Five years of professional-level experience in accounting, fiscal auditing, management or program analysis. Experience must have included modeling, forecasting and analyzing fiscal information. OR, Successful completion of the Department of Administrative Services Budget and Management Public Administrative Trainee Program. Note: A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public or Non-Profit Management, Finance, Accounting or a related degree (such as Public Policy, Political Science, Public Administration, Economics or other analytical or technical degree) may substitute for three years of the required experience. A graduate-level degree in any of the above areas may substitute for four of the five years.
