Overview of the Team and role
The National Investigations and Oversight Team is responsible for supporting the objective of Comcare and the Regulatory Operations Group to be a nationally consistent, risk-based Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulator by ensuring the delivery of effective, consistent, and targeted national regulatory operations to organisations within the Comcare Scheme.
The team is responsible for managing, monitoring, and reporting on compliance of WHS Undertakings, major hazard facilities and hazardous chemicals and Health and Safety Representative and Entry Permit Holder Training requirements in line with the
Work Health and Safety Act 2011
(WHS Act).
The team undertakes complex criminal investigations into alleged breaches of the WHS Act, conducts enquiries into fatal incidents reported to Comcare, and provides support and assistance to families and injured workers following a work-related death or serious injury.
The Investigations and Oversight Officer is responsible for supporting the Senior Investigations and Oversight Officer and the broader National Investigations and Oversight Team.
The role will undertake administrative and secretariat duties to support functions of the Director, the investigations team, the family liaison officer, and the authorisations officers. This will include communication, consultation, and coordination of activities.
The position will assist Investigators with the preparation of briefs of evidence and disclosure schedules for the CDPP.
The position will provide support for the assessment, lodgement and monitoring of WHS undertakings, and prepare reporting as required in relation to team functions.
Special Conditions
Some intra and interstate travel is required, including overnight absences.
Security Clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
