Summary

This position is part of the Department of Energy, Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence. As a Supervisory Investigator, you will be serving as Director of Program Protection, promoting and enhancing closer links between the Counterintelligence field offices and Department of Enery (DOE)/National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Program Offices and special programs across the complex.



Duties

This is an Excepted Service position. This appointment will not confer Competitive Service career-conditional or career tenure status. This means that if you are selected, you would have to compete with other applicants in open competition to meet requirements for another Federal position, unless you meet the requirements for reinstatement. Applicants who voluntarily convert from the competitive service, Senior Executive Service, or other pay systems to a non-time limited appointment under this excepted service authority are not afforded "fallback rights" to the pay system previously assigned prior to conversion.

As a full performance GS-15, Supervisory Investigator, you will:

  • Oversee subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory employees engaged in substantive counterintelligence (CI) covering agent activities, investigative and analytical operations, as well as contracting and business functions.
  • Evaluate, plan, coordinate, control, and direct CI operational activities and countermeasures pertaining to all intelligence and intelligence related policy, goals, objectives, and procedures for DOE HQ.
  • Oversee preparation of intelligence damage assessments in which the success of espionage operation or other intelligence compromises by foreign intelligence services is analyzed.
  • Provide a focal point for development, coordination, and dissemination of information with those counterintelligence components of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), other Intelligence Community Agencies, and the Uniformed Military Services.
  • Advise DOE HQ officials, contractor and other non-laboratory senior management on matters relating to Foreign Intelligence Entity (FIE) activities, which could have an adverse impact on designated operations, technologies, information, facilities and personnel.
