About the Opportunity : A Durham-based company in the real estate industry is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager for their Real Estate division. The ideal candidate should be a team-oriented, self-starter capable of managing multiple accounting functions, including property accounting, fixed assets, payroll, accounts receivable, and other month-end closing tasks. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities are essential.

Responsibilities :

Manage general ledger and transactional accounting for various commercial, residential, and other entities as assigned. Lead the monthly close process, including standard journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions. Conduct and review account analysis to ensure accurate recording of transactions. Perform or oversee bank reconciliations. Prepare analysis to support the financial reporting package. Review Profit & Loss statements and prepare variance analysis. Input lease information into the accounting system. Handle Tenant CAM estimates and reconciliations. Maintain an average occupancy report and calculate percentage rent. Prepare Fixed Asset additions and disposals and maintain comparative analysis to capital budgets. Complete annual property tax filings. Independently manage and process payroll for the Real Estate division on a bi-weekly basis. Prepare monthly payroll-related journal entries and accruals. Continuously identify and implement opportunities to streamline or improve accounting processes. Assist with the annual budget process. Support audit schedules as required. Collaborate on special projects with the Controller as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting 4-7 years of work experience in accounting Previous experience with Oracle Accounting, Yardi, Excel, and handling accounting transactions for multiple divisions is preferred.
