Job Description Cummins | Cederberg is seeking a Project Accountant to join our team in Coral Gables. The ideal candidate will be self-motivating, proactive, and possess a degree in accounting. We are a growing coastal and marine engineering firm with 6 offices throughout Florida serving both private and public clients. The Coral Gables office serves as the headquarters for the company. The job includes working with Project Managers, Senior Accountant, and Controller to ensure accurate and up-to-date project reporting and record-keeping regarding budget, revenue, cost, invoicing, and collections throughout the lifecycle of multiple projects. TYPICAL FUNCTIONS Assigns and opens projects in the accounting system, ensuring that the information provided by the PM aligns with the contract. Maintains project-related records, including executed contracts and change orders; files to be promptly saved in SharePoint. Authorizes access to project accounts. Authorizes the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts. Reviews and approves supplier invoices and charges related to a project. Investigates project variances and submits variance reports to the accounting supervisor. Collaborates with PMs regarding unpaid invoices. Reports to the accounting supervisor regarding the remaining backlog available for projects. Closes out project accounts upon project completion. Compiles information for internal and external auditors, as required. Provides project managers and clients with timely financial reports and budgets, as well as project forecasts. Prepares pre-billing reports for project managers to review. Monitors receivable income and supports project managers with collections. Sets up consultants, ensuring subconsultant agreements are in place, including Non-Disclosure agreements, Certificates of insurance, and licenses, if applicable. Issues invoices and pays consultant, subcontractor, vendor, and supplier bills. COMPETENCIES Proficient in the full suite of Microsoft Office software. Experience with accounting software such as Clearview or Deltek. Organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and interdepartmental reporting needs. Ability to perform in a fast-paced team environment; self-motivated and possesses excellent time management and organizational skills. Possesses excellent internal and external customer service skills; maintains a positive attitude and collaborative spirit. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 4-year Accounting or related degree with 6 years of experience. Experience in cost accounting or project accounting within the Architect / Engineering / Construction (AEC) industry.
