That's why we are searching for an organized, self-motivated, positive, proactive individual to join the team as a **Associate Sales Manager of Business Development and Customer Engagement**.

**Position Purpose** The Associate Sales Manager of Business Development and Customer Engagement is primarily responsible to research, qualify and solicit potential meeting prospects that support the sales efforts and bring new meetings to Indianapolis. Additionally, the role will be responsible for supporting the Senior Manager of Business Development and Customer Engagement in integrating the overall sales strategy into all customer facing sales opportunities to maximize ROI. All Visit Indy team members reflect the organizations 3 Ps culture productive, positive, and progressive. **Key Responsibilities**

**Essential Functions**

Business Development

* Work with Senior Manager of Business Development and Customer Engagement to identify groups that fall into targeted peak segmentation and increase rebooking percentage through continued solicitation

* Implement and execute prospecting tactics to uncover additional business opportunities for the city and fill need dates by identifying opportunities in Lost business reports and general solicitation process.

* Meet monthly, quarterly and yearly solicitation and prospecting goals as assigned.

* Generate prospective meetings and conventions through sales prospecting, targeted outreach plans and other sales methods.

* Qualify lost and prospective business and update accordingly in organizations CRM to ensure customer profile accuracy.

* Increase re-booking cycle by utilizing reports, post-convention surveys and other tools to ensure business remains in sales cycle for continued solicitation.

* Maximize sales opportunities from both live and virtual customer events.

* Partner with Visit Indy remote sales team and Senior Manager of Business Development and Customer Engagement in executing quality site inspections, including World Class Sites, while developing their own opportunities.

* Partner with Visit Indy sales team to assist in uncovering and researching potential new clients and prospecting new contacts within existing accounts.

* Attend customer events, tradeshows and industry events as needed.

* Assist Senior Manager of Business Development and Customer Engagement in analyzing data obtained from Visit Indy customer events and national tradeshows to qualify and ensure that ROI is positive.

* Participate in sales team meetings and other training sessions as required by Senior Vice President of Sales

* Participate in face-to-face client events, along with other Visit Indy team members as directed. This may require occasional evening or weekend hours. May also include limited travel.

* Utilize registration lists from trade shows to update existing accounts and add new accounts in organizations CRM

**Other Functions**

* Performs other duties as assigned.

**Education and Experience**

* Bachelors degree is preferred.

* Experience in the hospitality industry preferred

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**

* Stellar communication (written and verbal), negotiation, and sales skills.

* Ability to ask targeted questions and anticipate/understand customer needs; display strong customer relations skills.

* Ability to think strategically and creatively to effectively influence business opportunities.

* Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

* Knowledge and/or ability to learn data management tool.

* Ability to focus on details, handle multiple tasks, and remain highly organized in a fast-paced environment.

* Ability to think logically in order to troubleshoot and make recommendations for problems as identified.

* Ability to maintain a high energy level, take initiative, and work independently.

* Ability to be flexible and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

* Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, be insured, and be in possession of a valid Indiana drivers license.

**Physical Demands**

* This position requires some physical activity, such as reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; it requires occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and moving (up to 15 pounds).

* Ability to sit for extended periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday.

* Ability to move in and between various facilities and handle exposure to inclement weather.

* Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, good hearing, and dexterity.

* Good speaking and listening skills.

* Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines, and phones.

* Ability to interact with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence.
