Aero-Thermal Testing Group: Electronics Technician

Raytheon Technologies Research Center (RTRC) works with the business units of Raytheon Technologies (RTX) to develop new technologies and processes required to produce the most innovative products in the world. Tough challenges require the best minds to work together to generate ideas, test theories, challenge assumptions and ultimately deliver solutions. RTRC has more than 300 employees with over 96% of the technical staff holding advanced degrees. RTRC is at the forefront of advanced technology in fields including thermal and fluid sciences, structural mechanics, advanced materials, and embedded systems, which has enabled RTX to improve its products and impact entire markets.

The Aero-Thermal Testing Group at Raytheon Technologies Research Center is seeking an Electronics technician candidate with expertise in data acquisition and control system setup, calibration, and operation for our experimental test facilities.

Due to the nature of the experimental testing, flexible scheduling and multi-shift test support will be required.

Required Experience / Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have a combination of the following:

  • Expertise with electronics, low voltage wiring and devices as they relate to test facility data acquisition and control systems.
  • Setup and operate precision data acquisition test equipment. Troubleshoot and test electrical equipment and systems.
  • Experience with the calibration, installation, and commissioning of flowmeters, pressure transducers, thermocouples, and accelerometers.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of standard test equipment, multimeters, oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, and signal generators.
  • Conduct a variety of functional tests to check operation and calibration of test cell components, equipment, and systems.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, schematics, service manuals, written, and verbal instructions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance duties and equipment calibrations as required.
  • Analyze circuits and physically check wiring and operation of various electronic parts and system components necessary to locate malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.
  • Able to solder and use hand tools such as crimpers to fabricate custom cable and wiring assemblies.
  • Ability to perform light mechanical work such as assembly and modification of low voltage electrical enclosures.
  • Strong computer skills with data acquisition systems.
  • Strict adherence to Environmental, Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • US Citizenship is required, as only US citizens are eligible for security clearance.
  • U.S. Government Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance.
Preferred Experience / Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC control systems and LabVIEW data acquisition software.
  • Associates in Applied Science (AAS) in Electronics Technology or similar post high school study.


Education:

The candidate shall have any or all of the following: Technical School Certificate or Diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or other post high school training (two years duration) with a combined minimum of 4 years of education and/or work experience.

Level/Grade: T4 (or higher based on applicant's experience level)

The salary range for this role is 44,000 USD - 102,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
