Your Job as Director of Grant Writing and Proposal Development:

The Director of Grant Writing and Proposal Development, will have overall strategic responsibility for all grant program development and enhancement and will play a critical role in helping Acadia and the Comprehensive Treatment Center Division achieve its vision to provide high quality programs and to obtain as many viable grants and contracts as possible. This position will be part of driving the overall strategy for the division and will represent Acadia Healthcare on a local, regional and national level. The focus of this position will be program development and program expansion regarding grants and other funding opportunities for Medication Assisted Treatment, including MAT for individuals in corrections settings or otherwise involved in the criminal justice system. The focus will be to obtain grants or other funding sources at a federal, state and local level. This position will work closely with the Regional Vice Presidents of Operations to identify and monitor all funding opportunities and to work together with peers and external relationships. This position will be responsible for writing and submission of grants for Acadia. The position will work with any employed or contracted grant writer to assist in gathering information for the grant writer and will be responsible for monitoring and submitting all applications. The Director of Grant Writing and Proposal Development will be responsible for a variety of significant activities including being the liaison between operations and leadership.

Your Responsibilities as Director of Grant Writing and Proposal Development:

  • Oversee and lead continuous efforts to strengthen the overall health of the Acadia Healthcare grants portfolio, including oversight of all grant prospecting and grant and proposal development.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships/relationships to support grant acquisitions and for advancing organizational programmatic priorities.
  • Engage, cultivate and manage all relationships with external partners.
  • Work with Regional Vice Presidents and Regional Directors to establish relationships with local agencies and other community partners.
  • Develop the necessary systems and process to effectively communicate with all internal team members.
  • Supports the senior leadership team, RDs, and staff to make consistent and progressive steps toward improving the grant portfolio.
  • Enhances organizational excellence by establishing operational benchmarks, timelines, and proactively recommending funding opportunities and will track successes.
  • Speaks and writes clearly. Has the ability to deliver information in a concise and direct manner regardless of the nature of the subject matter. Writes grants and proposals directly, particularly for larger opportunities.
  • Articulates the goals, objectives and decisions in logical and understandable formats; lets people know where they stand and open to feedback from peers and senior management.
  • Lead team of grant and proposal writers to ensure timely completion of RFP responses, high quality work products, and ongoing professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Your Education, Skills, & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, graduate degree preferred;
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in a general management role, ideally in a rapidly evolving institution.
  • Highly organized and ability to wear multiple hats in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment; a driving force who manages toward clarity and solutions.
  • A successful track record in setting priorities, shaping processes, guiding investment in people and systems, and developing an infrastructure that creates a stronger and more efficient organization.
  • Thorough understanding of project management; able to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines and goals.

  • Excellent communication and coalition building skills with an ability to balance, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; high level of knowledge and understanding, especially as it relates to program replication, connecting programs to funding, creatively generating other resources, and building strategic partnerships.

  • The Director of Grant Program Development will be thoroughly committed to Acadia Healthcares strategy and mission. All candidates should have demonstrated leadership and relationship management experience and strong demonstrated success managing funder relationships.
  • Program Leadership and Management: This individual will have taken a hands-on approach in leading a variety of initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a track record of effectively leading a performance-based and outcome-based program and staff. She or he will have developed and operationalized strategies that have taken a program or organization to the next stage of growth
  • Exceptional Communication and Influencing Skills: As a voice/advocate of Medication Assisted Treatment, the Director of Grant Program Development will have strong written and verbal communication skills. She or he will be a persuasive, credible, and polished communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills. This individual must work collaboratively with internal as well as external partners and other organizations.
